This role is perfect for someone wanting to take the next step in their career in education. It is suitable for someone with experience working with learners with special educational needs that wish to make a move from social care or primary education. The college is looking for a driven and considerate Learning Support Assistant to join their learning support department. Every day is different and teaching assistants can be supporting the students in a wide range of subjects that help to promote their confidence, independence, employability and self-reliance. You could be working in a number of wonderful educational environments, one day you might be at the college garden, with small animals and the next day you could be doing art, drama, music or wood work skills as well as supporting in cooking lessons and Maths and English.

This role gives you an opportunity to experience something new every day and is great for someone wanting to work somewhere different from your traditional classroom. In order for you to excel in this Learning Support Assistant role, you must be compassionate and consistent to create a warm and approachable environment for the students to feel safe and inclusive throughout their learning journey. 

Successful Learning Support Assistant will have:

  • Grade C / 4 in GCSE English or equivalent
  • Enjoy working across college faculties i.e. supporting students on a variety of courses
  • Have recent and demonstrable experience of working with people with special education needs (desirable, but not essential)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
