Are you an experienced Geography teacher with a passion for leading and inspiring others? Do you have the drive to shape and develop a dynamic Geography curriculum? A thriving academy in Bristol is seeking a dedicated and visionary Head of Geography to join our team starting this September.

Role Overview:

As the Head of Geography, you will be responsible for leading and managing the Geography department ensuring high standards of teaching and learning, and contributing to the wider academic life of the academy. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on both students and staff, promoting a love for Geography and a deeper understanding of the world.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the Geography department whilst overseeing curriculum development, teaching standards, and assessment practices
  • Develop and implement innovative schemes of work and resources that engage and challenge students
  • Support and mentor Geography teachers, providing professional development opportunities and fostering a collaborative team environment
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, implementing strategies to ensure all students achieve their full potential
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes a passion for Geography
  • Collaborate with other departments and senior leadership to contribute to the academy's overall educational objectives
  • Organise and oversee Geography-related extra-curricular activities, field trips, and enrichment programs
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) with a degree in Geography or a related field
  • Proven experience teaching Geography at secondary school level, with a track record of achieving excellent student outcomes
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team
  • Up-to-date knowledge of Geography curriculum developments and best educational practices
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment
