About the Role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Maths Teacher (SEN) to join our dedicated team at a secondary SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and enjoyable maths lessons tailored to students with special educational needs, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Maths Teacher (SEN) Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging maths lessons that make learning fun and accessible for students with SEMH.
  • Develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) for students, supporting their academic and emotional growth.
  • Create a positive, safe, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes mathematical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to support the holistic development of students.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, using positive behaviour support strategies.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, adapting teaching methods to meet diverse needs.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional development opportunities.

Maths Teacher (SEN) Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with a specialisation in Maths.
  • Proven experience as a Maths Teacher (SEN), preferably in a secondary SEMH setting.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges and strategies involved in teaching students with special educational needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make maths fun and inspire students with a range of abilities and backgrounds.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
