We are currently recruiting for 4 SEND/SEMH Teaching Assistants in South Yorkshire. We are working with a specialist Academy for students aged between 7-16 years old who have a diagnosis of Autism. We are looking for full time Teaching assistants, the ideal candidate would be talented, creative, and enthusiastic about being a positive role model for students.

Teaching Assistants are given an opportunity to make a positive impact on students with autistic spectrum conditions and communication and interaction difficulties.

MUST - 

  • Be available to start early September 

A successful Teaching Assistant candidate would:

  • Have experience as a Teaching Assistant in specialist educational settings either in mainstream schools or any other alternative provision.
  • A history of working as a Teaching Assistant with students with challenging behaviour, autism spectrum and complex needs.
  • A confident, caring, and assertive personality

What to expect as a Teaching Assistant?

  • Working in these settings requires patience, confidence, and a caring attitude as many of these students have difficult social, emotional, and mental health issues which need to be managed.
  • Many of the students will have difficulties in displaying these emotions in a productive way so the use of Team Teach positive behaviour management strategies will need to be used often.
  • Many of these children have low self-esteem and will require positive re enforcement from you when they display good behaviours.

What we need from you:

  • Requirements:
    • NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant
    • Team Teach Qualification
    • 2 x references from educational establishments
    • A passion for success and quality teaching
    • An Enhanced DBS certificate registered with the Update Service
