Position: Teaching Assistant (SEND Students)

About Us: We are a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Chesterfield dedicated to providing a supportive and enriching learning environment for all our students. We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our team, focusing on supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within our mainstream classrooms.
Role and Responsibilities: As a Teaching Assistant working with SEND students, you will play a crucial role in helping children with various needs, including behavioural difficulties and difficulty concentrating, to achieve their full potential. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting SEND students in a mainstream classroom setting.
- Assisting the classroom teacher with implementing individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Providing one-on-one or small group support to students as needed.
- Using positive behaviour management techniques to support students with behavioural difficulties.
- Encouraging and assisting students to stay focused and engaged in their learning activities.
- Collaborating with teachers, SENCO, and other staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
- Monitoring and recording student progress and providing feedback to the teaching staff.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience working with SEND students in either a mainstream or specialised SEND school setting is essential.
- Proven ability to support students with behavioural difficulties and those who have difficulty concentrating.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with special needs.
- While a TA qualification is not required, it is advantageous.
