Classroom Support are excited to be working with a SEMH School in the East Molesey area.

We are recruiting on their behalf for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to work with Key Stage 2 - Key Stage 5 Pupils in a SEMH setting.

We are looking for a full time HLTA to work on a permanent basis Monday-Friday 8.30am-3.30pm.

Salary around £20-£22k per annum.- term time only.

The school are an SEMH setting with 6 children on roll who are in residential care between the ages of 10-16 years. All the young people have emotional and behavioural needs and have experienced some trauma in their lives.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a very bespoke and unique environment, we use child centred approaches and normally focus on AQA units alongside core subjects, to enable all young people to achieve something in education.

• The HLTA will be supporting with 1-1 sessions, small group sessions and homework club which runs every Friday from 11.20am- 3pm.
• The HLTA will cover PSHE lessons which are planned. Art lessons which do not follow a curriculum and are emotive pieces of work based on current challenges, this is part of a therapeutic offering to support young people emotionally. The HLTA will also facilitate and support with offsite PE sessions. Plans are set with LO’s and success criteria. But the HLTA will bring these to life and once settled must be able to adapt & differentiate plans to suit leaners.
• The HLTA must have confidence to be creative in ways of thinking and working outside of usual national curriculum frameworks as we do a lot of thinking outside the box to meet our learners needs.

The school are looking for a September start, but the successful candidate must be able to join them for a ½ day of training and familiarising themselves in the setting in July 2024. They can be flexible on dates for this ½ day of training.
