Special Education Needs Teacher

Secondary school in Brent

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to join the team at our mainstream secondary school in brent we collaborate with. As an integral part of our SEN unit, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they receive the necessary support to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with subject teachers to make mainstream lessons accessible to SEN students, providing support and accommodations as needed.
  • Key work with SEN students, building strong relationships and providing personalized support to meet their individual needs.
  • Conduct small-group sessions for targeted interventions, delivering specialized instruction and support to enhance students' learning outcomes.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with parents, providing updates on student progress, discussing concerns, and soliciting input for support strategies.
  • Liaise with teachers and staff members regarding key-worked students, their individual needs, and any adjustments required to support their learning journey.
  • Complete statutory paperwork for students with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCP), ensuring compliance with legal requirements and facilitating access to necessary resources and support services.
  • Organize and facilitate Annual Reviews for EHCP students, actively involving parents, students, and relevant professionals to review progress and update support plans.
  • Advocate for SEN students within the school community, promoting inclusive practices and raising awareness of their unique needs and strengths.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a specialization in Special Educational Needs (SEN) preferred.
  • Proven experience working with students with Speech and Language Needs and Autism, preferably within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEN strategies, interventions, and best practices, with the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs.
  • Subject to enhance DBS check
