Position: SEMH Primary HLTA
Location: Sheffield
Schedule: Monday - Friday
Contract: Temp to Perm Options Available

About the Role:

As a SEMH Primary Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you will play a vital role in supporting students with SEMH needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to the needs of SEMH students.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, fostering a positive and encouraging atmosphere.
  • Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and support strategies.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Promote positive behavior management techniques and support students in developing social skills.
  • Collaborate with the school team to ensure a holistic approach to student wellbeing and academic progress.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs in a primary school setting.
  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting children's education and personal development.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Knowledge of relevant safeguarding and health & safety procedures.
  • DBS on the update service or willing to get one.
