GSL Education Kent are looking to hire a dedicated and enthusiastic Religious Education Teacher to join a dynamic school community in Dover. This role provides the perfect platform to share your passion for RE and

empower students to develop a deeper understanding of diverse faith traditions and philosophical perspectives.

As an RE Teacher, you'll play a crucial role in delivering engaging and thought-provoking lessons that explore the complexities of religious belief and practice. From studying sacred texts and rituals to examining contemporary ethical issues, you'll foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and develop their own perspectives on matters of faith and spirituality.

Key Responsibilities for the RE Teacher role:

  • Plan and deliver dynamic and interactive RE lessons that stimulate curiosity, critical thinking, and respectful dialogue among students from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds.
  • Introduce students to a wide range of religious traditions, including Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Sikhism, promoting tolerance, empathy, and interfaith understanding.
  • Facilitate open and respectful discussions on moral and ethical dilemmas, encouraging students to reflect on their own values, beliefs, and responsibilities as global citizens.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies and resources, such as multimedia presentations, group discussions, and experiential learning activities, to cater to different learning styles and abilities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop cross-curricular connections and interdisciplinary projects that integrate RE with other subjects, such as history, geography, and citizenship education.

RE Teacher role Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Religious Studies, Theology, Philosophy, or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching RE at the secondary level, with a passion for exploring religious and ethical questions in a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Strong subject knowledge and expertise in one or more religious traditions, along with the ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and accessible manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • A commitment to promoting tolerance, respect, and understanding across religious and cultural divides, and to fostering a school community that celebrates diversity and inclusivity.
