About the Role:
GSL Education are currently seeking a resilient and empathetic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team in Newcastle. This role involves providing support to primary school students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Implement strategies to support students' emotional regulation and social skills development.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to create and implement personalized support plans.
  • Monitor students' progress and well-being, providing feedback to the teaching team and parents/carers.
  • Create a nurturing and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working with children with SEMH needs.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate resilience, empathy, and patience when supporting students with challenging behaviour.
  • Be committed to promoting positive mental health and well-being for all students.
