SEN Behaviour Support Mentor

Dunbar Education, a leading recruitment agency specialising in education, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Mentor to join an SEN School team. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with SEN, particularly focusing on SEMH needs.
  • Implement strategies to manage and address challenging behaviour effectively.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and SENCO to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, offering guidance and encouragement.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualised behaviour plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour incidents.

Requirements:

  • Full-time availability: no part-time candidates will be considered.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience working within a school setting, preferably in SEN.
  • Understanding of SEMH and experience in managing challenging behaviour.
  • Possession of an enhanced DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Availability to work during term times.

  • Patient and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Thorough understanding of SEMH and its impact on learning.
  • Proficient in implementing effective strategies to manage behaviour.
