The Role: As a Design & Technology Teacher, you will deliver engaging and practical lessons that enable students to design, create, and evaluate their own projects. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver high-quality Design & Technology lessons that cover a range of materials, processes, and technologies, catering to the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Practical Projects: Lead students through the design process, from initial concept development and prototyping to final production and evaluation, using a variety of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Technical Skills: Teach students essential design and manufacturing skills, including woodworking, metalworking, electronics, CAD/CAM, and 3D printing, to enable them to bring their ideas to life.
  • Innovation and Creativity: Encourage students to think creatively, take risks, and explore new ideas and solutions to design challenges, fostering innovation and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure the safe and responsible use of tools, equipment, and machinery in the workshop, following all health and safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Assess students' practical skills, design processes, and project outcomes, providing constructive feedback to support their development and progress.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a degree in Design & Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Passion for design, engineering, and technology, with a strong knowledge of the Design & Technology curriculum and industry practices.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students in the creative design process.
  • Technical proficiency in a range of design and manufacturing techniques, with experience using workshop tools, machinery, and software.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusivity and diversity in Design & Technology education, ensuring all students have the opportunity to succeed and thrive.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues to enhance the Design & Technology program.
