The School
A large primary school is known for establishing fantastic relationships families it serves. The staff are committed to ensuring children identified as having additional needs have access to a broad and challenging curriculum. Self-regulation and emotional development are a high priority for this school. The staff are extremely supportive and committed to continued professional development.
The Role
You will be supporting an individual pupil to develop positive self-regulation skills and improve their engagement with the curriculum. You will also be leading one-to-one activities with this pupil, under the guidance of the class teacher and SENDCo. The pupil has a plan in place with established targets on it. You will be working towards these targets as well as reflecting on the progress made and creating new targets.
Main Responsibilities
- Support individual pupil to develop positive self-regulation skills
- Use pre-determined strategies to manage challenging behaviour
- Deliver planned interventions
- Ensure pupil safety and welfare is maintained at all times
- Feedback to class teacher and SENDCo
- Liaise with parents about progress/areas for development

- Ability to adapt and use own initiative
- Patience and resilience
Desirable Criteria
- Team Teach training/experience
- Education/Teaching Assistant qualification
- Prior experience working in a school or nursery
