Role Overview

As a Secondary School SEN Teacher, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support and guidance to students with SEN, enabling them to access the curriculum and achieve their academic and personal goals. Working closely with SENCO, teaching staff, and support teams, you will deliver engaging lessons, implement effective strategies, and provide individualized support to meet the diverse needs of our students.

Key Responsibilities as a SEN Teacher:
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons that accommodate the individual learning needs of students with SEN, ensuring access to the curriculum.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SENCO and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Utilize a range of teaching strategies and resources to support students' academic progress, social development, and independence.
  • Monitor students' progress, assess their achievements, and provide regular feedback to students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels valued, respected, and empowered to succeed.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience working with students with SEN in a secondary school setting.
  • Sound knowledge of SEN conditions, learning difficulties, and appropriate strategies for differentiation and support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A flexible and collaborative approach to teaching, with a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students.
  • Passion, empathy, and dedication to making a positive difference in the lives of students with SEN.
