Roles, Responsibilities, and Requirements:

As an SEN TA specializing in Autism, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students with tailored interventions and fostering their independence and well-being. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-on-one support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in both academic and social settings.
  • Implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies to support student progress and development.
  • Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to the SENCO and other team members.
  • Supporting students during transitions and helping them develop essential life skills.
  • Participating in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in working with students with ASD.

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or other special educational needs.
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to supporting students with diverse learning needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special education, autism support, or related fields (desirable but not essential).
