We are working with a supportive school located in the borough of Greenwich who are looking for a Teaching Assistant to support children with social, emotional, mental health needs (SEMH).

The role

If you thrive off a challenge and have a persevering personality, this role is ideal for you. The School works solely with those that cannot engage in mainstream education due to sever and complex social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. This role truly gives you the opportunity to turn around the lives of our next generation for the better.

The ideal candidate

To be considered a real asset to the school, you must demonstrate:

  • Experience and knowledge within SEN
  • Classroom management skills
  • The ability to deliver in class, 1:1 and small group support work
  • A proactive and enthusiastic approach to all that you do; having a ‘can do’ attitude
  • The ability to use your initiative
  • Excellent time managements and organisational skills
  • A consistent approachable and professional manor at all time

The school

Students have severe and complex social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and statements of special educational need.  Many have been excluded from other schools and are regarded as ‘unteachable’ when they join them, from the age of 11.

Their new purpose-built school gives them a safe haven. They provide minute-by-minute day-time support and a structured learning environment and, despite their challenging personal circumstances, their students make tremendous progress. When they leave them at 16, they are ready to engage with a positive future.
