The Educate Group are looking for enthusiastic and adaptable individuals to join us as Cover supervisors delivering lessons during the short term absence of teaching staff.  This is a varied and interesting role for which you will require the  confidence and presence to take charge of the classroom, ensuring that students' complete the work set by their teaching staff.  Maintaining the behaviour of the students is key to the role, appropriately using the school policies and procedures.  This role is ideal for anyone who is looking for experience in a secondary school with a view to applying for a PGCE course in the future.  Experience of working with young people in either a school or community situation would be an advantage, however consideration will be given to someone who can demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for the role.

Responsibilities of a Cover Supervisor:

• Supervise classes and deliver pre-prepared lessons in the absence of a teacher
• Ensure that students are engaged, motivated and on task
• Manage any behaviour issues that may arise
• Follow school policies and procedures
• Maintain accurate records of student progress

Requirements of a Cover Supervisor:

• A degree or Level 3 qualification with solid standards of literacy and numeracy
• Experience working or volunteering with children or young people
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to manage behaviour effectively
• A positive attitude and a willingness to learn
• Flexibility and adaptability

Registrations required to be a Cover Supervisor:

• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, but if you do not have one, you can apply for a new one through Educate.
• You must register with the EWC (Education Workforce Council) to work in Wales.
