One of Educate's partner schools in the centre of Wrexham are looking for a full-time teaching assistant to join their team on a full-time basis until half-term. 

The role will be based primarily in KS2, working closely with a number of pupils in class who require extra support. The role will be varied and rewarding, from helping with literacy and numeracy intervention to offering emotional support throughout the day, you'll have the opportunity to build a strong working relationship, giving the pupils the best possible chance to succeed in school. 

With this in mind, excellent organisation and time management in required, due to the nature of the role you will be required to meet with the pupils at the start of school, and spent the majority of the day working only with them, supporting their varying needs.

All work will be planned by the class teacher, however a desire to engage with and deliver the tasks in a way in which captures the imagination of the pupils you are working with is essential. 

You will be calming, yet set clear boundaries, giving them structure and consistency within the school setting. This is also an opportunity to build a strong connection with a highly reputable school, who have a proven track record of hiring supply staff on contract.

Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant:

  • Support the teacher in preparing classroom materials.
  • Assist individual students and manage student behaviour.
  • Assess progress and provide feedback.
  • Create a positive learning environment, providing support during activities.
  • Help with administrative tasks.
  • Follow school policies and procedures.

 Requirements of a Teaching Assistant:

  • No qualifications are required, although good standards of literacy and numeracy are needed.
  • Experience working with children or young people would be beneficial. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to manage behaviour effectively.
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.

Registrations required to be a Teaching Assistant:

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, but if you do not have one, you can apply for a new one through Educate.
  • You must register with the EWC (Education Workforce Council) to work in Wales.
