Position: SEND Teaching Assistant

Smile Education is proud to support a specialist school in Lichfield, this particular setting is Special Academy for children and young people with physical disabilities and complex medical needs aged between 2 and 19 years. The school are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their growing team due to an increase in numbers. The role is long term with the potential of turning into a permanent Teaching Assistant role.

Responsibilities:

• Provide one-to-one support to students, ensuring they can access the curriculum and reach their full potential.
• Utilise your experience in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
• Collaborate with the school community, fostering strong parent relationships to ensure the holistic development of each student.
• Work collaboratively with the school staff as part of a cohesive and supportive team.

Requirements:

• Minimum Level 2 qualification in Health & Social Care, Teaching Assistant, or equivalent.
• Recent experience supporting students with SEND in a similar role is essential in particular physical disabilities and complex needs.
• Ability to work as part of a larger team and communicate with external professionals.
• Must be flexible as you may be required to work across the school and with multiple students.
• Use your experience of being a teaching assistant previously to encourage students to reach their full potential.
• Have a sound knowledge and experience of the curriculum.
• Confident working with students on a 1:1 and 2:1 basis

Working Hours:
