If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join a specialist school in Berkeley, near Dursley.

We are looking for an individual to join our team to provide support for both academic and emotional needs. The school is home to children of all backgrounds, from ages 4- 18, who, prior to attending this school, have been excluded or do not engage with mainstream education.These children have been exposed to neglect, abuse and trauma so we need a very understanding and empathetic person. The school really values creating an alternative curriculum which allows student to develop their academic performance, whilst also building the skills needed to thrive is today’s society.

Job Description:

  • In this role, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for the students.
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs).
  • Building strong relationships with students to establish trust and rapport.
  • Promoting positive behaviour management techniques and strategies.
  • Collaborating with teachers and other professionals to support student learning.
  • Creating a safe and nurturing atmosphere where students can thrive academically and emotionally.
  • Monitoring and recording student progress.

While no specific qualifications may be required for this role, having a background in education, psychology, or related fields can be advantageous. A genuine passion for helping students with SEMH needs achieve their full potential is a very important quality we look for, as well as a willingness to learn and adapt the unique needs of each student. Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
