Hours: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team, supporting a pupil with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Role Overview: As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a SEND pupil, providing individualized support to help them achieve their full potential within the classroom environment. You will collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement tailored learning strategies and assist in creating a supportive and inclusive atmosphere for the pupil's academic and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support and guidance to the SEND pupil, assisting with their learning activities and promoting independent learning skills.
  • Adapt and differentiate classroom materials and resources to meet the individual needs of the pupil.
  • Support the pupil with social interactions, helping to foster positive relationships with peers and adults.
  • Monitor and record the pupil's progress, communicating effectively with the class teacher and SENCO regarding their development and any concerns.
  • Assist in implementing behavior management strategies, promoting positive behavior and managing challenging behaviors when necessary.
  • Collaborate with other members of the school staff and external professionals to ensure the pupil receives comprehensive support and access to relevant services.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs and disabilities is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the learning and wellbeing of children with SEND.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the pupil and the school environment.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special education, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, would be advantageous.
