Purple Mango Education has the absolute pleasure in working with an outstanding school in North Birmingham who are currently in search of a Head/Director of English. This is a permanent role, starting in September or earlier for the right person.

As the Head/Director of English, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the English department and foster a culture of excellence within the school community.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing visionary leadership and strategic direction for the English department
• Create and maintain an environment and a code of behaviour that promotes and secures good teaching, effective learning and high standards of achievement
• Mentoring and supporting English teachers to enhance their teaching practice
• Monitoring student progress and implementing effective intervention strategies
• Collaborating with colleagues to promote cross-curricular links and language immersion opportunities
• Liaising with parents, stakeholders, and external partners to promote the importance of language education

Our ideal candidate will possess:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Proven leadership experience within a school setting
• Expertise in teaching English at Secondary level
• Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to inspire and motivate both students and colleagues
• Commitment to promoting cultural awareness and diversity
• Visionary mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation
