Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in food technology to students of varying ages and abilities.
  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment where students can explore their creativity and develop practical skills.
  • Teach students fundamental cooking techniques, food hygiene, nutrition, and recipe development.
  • Provide guidance and support to students during practical cooking sessions, ensuring a high standard of food preparation and presentation.
  • Incorporate technology into teaching methods, utilizing tools and software to enhance the learning experience.
  • Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records of their achievements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum materials, schemes of work, and assessment strategies.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in food technology, and incorporate them into teaching practice.
  • Promote healthy eating habits and the importance of sustainable food practices.

Requirements:

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent certification.
  • Specialization or strong background in food technology, culinary arts, or related fields.
  • Previous experience teaching food technology or a related subject is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students, fostering a love for food and cooking.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in incorporating cooking techniques into teaching methods.
