Teaching Personnel is currently seeking an individual with unwavering commitment to join our team as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant for a partner school in Newport. In this role, you will play a crucial role in providing essential support to a pupil with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and some behavioral issues within a mainstream classroom setting.
While prior professional experience with children with ALN ) is beneficial, we welcome applications from individuals with personal experience.
Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant
Location: Newport
Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30 – 15:30
Pay: Minimum £12.90 per hour
Start: May 2024
Responsibilities of the 1:1 Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-on-one support to a pupil with ALN and some behavioural issues in a mainstream classroom.
- Collaborate closely with the class teacher to implement tailored strategies for the identified pupil.
- Demonstrate strength, resilience, and patience in addressing the individual needs of the pupil.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment conducive to the pupil's academic and social development.
- Assist in managing challenging behaviors and implementing behavior management techniques as required.
- Monitor and track the pupil's progress, providing feedback to the teacher and relevant stakeholders.
- Establish trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and parents, providing social and emotional support.
Key Requirements for a Successful 1:1 Teaching Assistant:
- To be registered with the EWC (Education Workforce Council)
- Hold a Child only DBS certificate that is registered on the Update System.
- Provide 2 professional references covering 24 months.
- To be strong and resilient when facing challenging behaviour. Demonstrated strength and resilience in managing challenging behavior.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
