Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Do you have a therapeutic approach to supporting pupils and managing their behaviour? If so, Dunbar Education Recruitment Agency is looking for an enthusiastic Education Learning Mentor to join a dedicated team within a SEN school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implementing a therapeutic approach to support the emotional and educational needs of pupils with SEN.
  • Managing behaviour effectively through positive reinforcement techniques.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with pupils, providing guidance and support.
  • Fulfilling duties akin to a mentor rather than a traditional SEN Teaching Assistant role.
  • Working with secondary age pupils to facilitate their learning and development.
  • Being responsible for transportation, therefore, access to your own vehicle is non-negotiable.
  • Being confident in driving the school vehicle for activities outside of the school premises.
  • Working hours are fixed from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, non-negotiable.

Requirements:

  • Experience working within a Special Educational Needs environment, particularly with pupils experiencing Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
  • A therapeutic approach to supporting pupils, with a focus on their emotional well-being.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to implement positive reinforcement strategies effectively.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Access to your own vehicle and confidence in driving school vehicles for off-site activities.
  • Commitment to working fixed hours from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
