Primary Teacher – Maternity Cover

We are looking to recruit someone with experience that is wanting to make that real difference in children’s lives. The role is for a maternity cover starting at the summer term. You will have a very good understanding of the Primary Curriculum content, with experience of assessments and exams.

This small unit, Ofsted rated “GOOD” provides high quality teaching and learning for young children age from 4- to 11-year-olds with complex social emotional & mental health needs (SEMH). Many of these children have severe speech language communication needs (SLCN).

You will have a unique opportunity to work with a very supportive team that will take your well-being into consideration to ensure you bring out your passion & love of teaching young children with additional needs. Working in a unit setting does have its challenges, but with a genuine supportive team it makes your career as a teacher more rewarding and enjoyable.

Job Spec & Description:

  • Must have qualified Teacher status.
  • Experience or be very enthusiastic in teaching children with SEMH & SLCN.
  • Develop & deliver an appropriate and outstanding curriculum and provision planning.
  • Assess and teach young children who have complex SEMH.
  • To support the development of the Unit provision Particular reference to teaching and assessment of young children with SEMH & SLCN.
  • Participate as a team member in the operation, promotion, evaluation and development of the unit.
  • Be a passionate Practitioner who can provide stimulating innovative learning opportunities and enjoy working with young children with additional needs.
