SEN Teaching Assistant - Welwyn Garden City

A lovely school I'm working with are currently seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. The successful candidate will work closely with the SEN Coordinator and teaching staff to provide tailored support and assistance to students with special educational needs, ensuring that they are fully included and able to access the curriculum.

The dedicated educational institution are committed to providing inclusive and supportive learning environments for all students, including those with special educational needs (SEN). With the mission to ensure that every student receives the support and resources they need to reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with special educational needs, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Assist classroom teachers in planning and delivering differentiated lessons to meet the individual needs of students with SEN.
  • Support students with activities of daily living, including personal care and mobility assistance, as needed.
  • Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with SEN.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and SEN Coordinator.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with students with special educational needs, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Relevant qualifications in special education or a related field are highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of different types of special educational needs and appropriate strategies for supporting students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of students with SEN.
