Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to work closely with our students with ASD. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting their individual learning goals, fostering independence, and promoting social inclusion within the classroom and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with ASD, assisting with academic tasks and promoting skill development in areas such as communication, social interaction, and behaviour.
Collaborate with teachers and support staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavioural interventions tailored to each student's needs.
Create a supportive and structured learning environment, incorporating sensory-friendly strategies and visual supports to enhance engagement and comprehension.
Foster positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues, promoting open communication and collaboration to ensure the holistic well-being of each student.
Qualifications:
Previous experience working with individuals with ASD preferred.
Strong understanding of ASD characteristics, communication strategies, and behavioural support techniques.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect empathetically with students and build trusting relationships.
Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude towards challenges and learning opportunities.
Relevant certifications or training in special education, autism intervention, or related fields is an asset.
