The Educate Group is currently recruiting cover supervisors for their partner secondary schools in Chester and Cheshire West.

This role is suitable for individuals who have experience coaching, leading, volunteering, or working with children aged 11 to 18, and who are considering a career in secondary teaching.

As a cover supervisor, you will be responsible for leading classes in the absence of the teacher and will be using all of the skills and confidence you have gained from your experiences of working with young people.

The Educate Group works with many secondary schools across the area and provides various day-to-day, short-term, and long-term support across multiple roles, including sports coaches and cover supervisors.

They offer free regular training and paid opportunities in secondary schools. Additionally, you can apply for your initial teacher training with Educate ITT through one of their link schools.

Responsibilities of a Cover Supervisor:

1. Supervise classes and deliver pre-prepared lessons in the absence of a teacher
2. Ensure that students are engaged, motivated and on task
3. Manage any behaviour issues that may arise
4. Follow school policies and procedures
5. Maintain accurate records of student progress

Requirements of a Cover Supervisor:

• A degree or Level 3 qualification with solid standards of literacy and numeracy
• Experience working or volunteering with children or young people
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to manage behaviour effectively
• A positive attitude and a willingness to learn
• Flexibility and adaptability

Registrations required to be a Cover Supervisor:

• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, but if you do not have one, you can apply for a new one through Educate.
• You must register with the EWC (Education Workforce Council) to work in Wales.
