We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) to join our team and make a positive difference in the lives of our students.

Role Overview:# As a Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children with a range of needs, including those with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). Working closely with the SENCO and classroom teachers, you will provide tailored support and intervention to help students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. This is an exciting opportunity for a compassionate and dedicated individual to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children with SEN.

Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with special educational needs, including those with EHCPs.
  • Implement individualized support plans and strategies to address the specific needs of each student, including those with Speech and Language difficulties, ADHD, ACMH, and Autism.
  • Assist students with accessing the curriculum, participating in classroom activities, and developing key skills in literacy, numeracy, and social interaction.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported.
  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to monitor student progress and evaluate the effectiveness of support interventions.
  • Support students with personal care and health needs, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and intervention activities, in line with school policies and procedures.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/carers to provide updates on student progress and discuss any concerns or issues.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in supporting children with SEN.

Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant or SEN LSA, preferably in a primary school setting.
  • Understanding of the needs of children with SEN, including those with Speech and Language difficulties, ADHD, ACMH, and Autism.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children, parents/carers, and colleagues, demonstrating empathy, patience, and understanding.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in supporting children with SEN, such as Makaton, Team-Teach, or relevant Speech and Language courses, would be advantageous.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance and satisfactory references.
