On behalf of our client school, Tradewind would like to present you with a fantastic KS1 teaching opportunity to play a key role the progress and attainment of pupils in a Year 1 class within a 'Good' school in Hyde,Tameside. This position , which will pay to scale, commences May 2024 on a full-time basis and will run for approximately 1 year.

This is a maternity cover role which provides an opportunity to make a strong impact long-term in a school which is part of a wider trust of 6 other Tameside schools. As a result, this role presenting positive prospects for future permanent employment opportunities.

About the School

The school is a high achieving one and a half-form entry primary school catering for children between the ages of three and eleven in a diverse community in Tameside. The school prides itself on it's high standard of personalised learning in a caring and supportive environment and wide ranging opportunities provided by a team of excellent, committed staff. The school aim is to promote lifelong learners and to fully equip children to embark on the next stage of their educational journey.

Year 1 Teacher

The successful teacher will be responsible for the progress and attainment of approximately 30 pupils in a mixed ability Year 1 class. There is a small number of SEND pupils and you will benefit from an experienced TA who is proactive and a great team player.


Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Create engaging lessons that align with the Year 1 National Curriculum standards and support the creative curriculum delivered by the school
  • Understand age-related expectations for children within Year 1 and scaffold and stretch accordingly to maximise educational outcomes for pupils as individuals
  • Keep up-to-date records of data and analyse where and what to reteach to bridge gaps in learning and raise levels of attainment
  • Build a positive rapport with all pupils based on trust and mutual respect
  • Work effectively as a team player with the TA, key stage and wider staff to share advice, resources and best practice




Essential Requirements:

-QTS (Or an equivalent teaching qualification)

-Excellent references to support previous experience (ideally in a Year 2 class)

-A CV that covers the last 10 years employment history with any CV gaps explained

-The right to work in the UK
