Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of students with autism spectrum conditions (ASC) or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs? We are seeking a dedicated Lead Teaching Assistant to join our team at a specialized school in Warwickshire, where pupils thrive in an environment tailored to their unique needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of three teaching assistants per class, ensuring effective support and interventions for students with ASC or SEMH needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement individualized education plans and behaviour management strategies for students.
  • Support the inclusion and integration of students with ASC or SEMH needs into classroom activities and social settings, promoting their independence and well-being.
  • Monitor and track student progress and behaviour, providing regular feedback to teachers and contributing to the evaluation and adjustment of support strategies.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, building trust and rapport to facilitate their engagement and participation in learning activities.

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Experience working with students with autism spectrum conditions or social, emotional, and mental health needs, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies for supporting students with diverse learning needs and communication styles.
  • Leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and empower a team of teaching assistants to provide high-quality support and interventions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience, with a commitment to promoting inclusion, equality, and diversity within the school community.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond effectively to the changing needs and challenges of students with ASC or SEMH needs.
  • Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance.
