Sixth Form Coordinator in a SEND/SEMH School

Are you passionate about empowering students with special educational needs and social, emotional, and mental health challenges (SEND/SEMH) to succeed in their post-16 education journey? We are seeking a dedicated Sixth Form Coordinator to join our supportive team at our school in Staffordshire.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the provision of support and guidance to students with SEND/SEMH in the sixth form, ensuring their individual needs are met effectively.
  • Develop and implement personalized learning plans and transition pathways for students, in collaboration with teachers, parents/carers, and external agencies.
  • Provide pastoral support and mentoring to students, fostering their social, emotional, and personal development.
  • Monitor and track student progress and attainment, identifying any barriers to learning and implementing interventions as necessary.
  • Liaise with external educational institutions, employers, and agencies to facilitate work placements, further education opportunities, and transitions beyond sixth form.

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) and experience working with students with SEND/SEMH, preferably in a post-16 setting.
  • Strong understanding of the diverse needs and challenges faced by students with SEND/SEMH, and effective strategies for supporting their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents/carers, and external stakeholders.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Empathy, patience, and resilience, with a commitment to promoting inclusion, equality, and diversity within the school community.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidelines related to SEND/SEMH provision, including EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) and transition planning.
  • Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance
