In the heart of Oxfordshire, a 'Good' Secondary School is looking for a Head of Science to join them from September 2024. This is a permanent, and full-time contract employed directly by the school.

The Head Teacher is looking for an ambitious experienced Science Teacher that is ready to take the step up to Head of Science and who is keen to add value to an expanding Science Department. The school is renowned for their supportive SLT, and impressive Progress 8 results across all subjects. The school are well invested into the Education sector setting new teaching practices, as well as training their own and new staff. It's an exciting time at the school! JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Head of Science
  • Inspiring and motivating the younger generation.
  • Working alongside a team of Fantastic Science Teachers
  • Developing a vision of how, through science, you can raise the aspirations and achievement of students both within the academy and the wider community.
  • Leading the development of curriculum materials, including schemes of work, that meet the needs of all learners so they can succeed in and enjoy science.
  • To oversee, organising, and delivering all schemes of work throughout the year and ensuring that they embrace the new Ofsted framework.
  • Arranging the timetable to ensure that teaching staff within science are best deployed to utilise their strengths

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Must have QTS
  • Experienced Science Teacher
  • Strong academics across the board - Degree, A Levels and GCSEs
  • Must be meeting the 8 Teaching Standards to a 'Good or Outstanding' level.
  • Excellent curriculum knowledge
  • Previous management/leadership experience is ideal.
  • Ambitious and driven personality
  • Must be able to create engaging and challenging lessons.
  • Must be able to work within a team ·
  • Previous 'Good' or 'Outstanding' lesson observations
