Job Opportunity: SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant (Year 6)

Location: Outstanding Primary School in Newham

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on children's lives? Do you have experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant at our outstanding primary school in Newham.

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work with a boy in Year 6 who has special educational needs. The successful candidate will work closely with the student, providing individualized support to help them access the curriculum and achieve their academic and personal goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support to the student with SEN, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Assist the student in understanding and completing tasks, adapting teaching materials as necessary.
  • Implement strategies to support the student's social and emotional development.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure the student's needs are met effectively.
  • Monitor and record the student's progress, providing feedback to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment for the student.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN, preferably in a school setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support (desirable but not essential).
