Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher to join our dynamic school located in the vibrant borough of  Harrow. Our school is committed to providing exceptional education and support to students with Special Educational Needs, fostering an inclusive and nurturing learning environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and differentiate high-quality lessons and interventions tailored to the individual needs and abilities of students with Special Educational Needs, including but not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Dyslexia, and Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN).
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes engagement, independence, and positive behavior management strategies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Use a range of assessment tools and strategies to monitor student progress, identify barriers to learning, and implement targeted interventions to support academic and personal development.
  • Provide regular feedback and communication to parents and carers regarding student progress, achievements, and areas for development.
  • Participate in the wider life of the school community, including attending meetings, contributing to school events, and engaging in professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience working with students with Special Educational Needs, preferably in a similar setting.
  • ECT qualified teachers are also encouraged to apply.
  • Strong understanding of Special Educational Needs, including knowledge of different conditions, strategies, and interventions to support learning and development.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
  • Resilience, patience, and empathy, with a passion for making a positive difference in the lives of students with Special Educational Needs.
  • Ability to adapt teaching approaches and resources to meet the diverse needs of students and promote inclusive learning experiences.
  • Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the school community.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
