Specialist 1:2:1 Learning Support Assistant

The Role:

Seeking a dedicated and skilled Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support an individual learner with complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Type 1 diabetes. This role involves working closely with the student throughout the school day.

About Us:
A co-educational, fully comprehensive 11-16 Academy. Opened to Year 7 students in September 2019, it is highly regarded in the community and oversubscribed.

Working Hours:

• 37 hours per week
• 39 weeks per year (term time plus non-pupil days)

Key Responsibilities:

• Gain understanding of the learner's individual needs and implement provision effectively
• Support teaching staff and the SENDCo in monitoring the learner's progress
• Provide consistent support for the learner, including managing Type 1 diabetes as per Individual Health Care Plans (IHCP)
• Maintain clear records to monitor medical needs outlined in the IHCP
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and contribute to progress meetings
• Promote positive behavior and foster independent learning skills

Requirements:

• Recent experience working with children in an educational setting
• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification
• Experience supporting students with complex medical needs (including T1 diabetes) or willingness to undergo training
• Knowledge and experience working with learners with Autism and other neurodiverse conditions
• Transferrable skills from other sectors will be considered
