Food Technician

Salary: £80-£100 a day 

Reports to: Head of Technology

Liaison with: Teaching staff, support staff, pupils, outside agencies.

Job Purpose: To provide general support to the Food Technology Department.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Prepare for practical lessons, assist during lessons where necessary, and clear up after practical lessons.

Duties:

  • Prepare and check orders for the Department, maintaining stock levels.
  • Launder items as necessary and clean equipment after use.
  • Ensure all demonstration materials, equipment, and provisions are available for teaching staff, including purchasing items from local retail outlets.
  • Carry out minor repairs and maintenance of kitchen equipment, arranging specialist outside companies for complex problems.
  • Conduct patch testing of electrical equipment.
  • Provide support to teachers in preparing theory work.
  • Maintain records and handle student monies for practical lessons where appropriate.
  • Be available to assist with any problems arising in the Department.

General:

  • Undertake any training relevant to the post.
  • Participate in performance and development reviews, identifying learning and development opportunities with the line manager.
  • Comply with health and safety responsibilities in the workplace.
