About our school:

A warm welcome to Unity College. We are looking for enthusiastic and resilient teachers with prior experience of working in SEND settings to join our ever-expanding team. We offer a bespoke educational provision in a nurturing environment for our secondary age students (Y7 - post 16) who are all in care of the local authority. We operate on two sites. The main site is in West Wycombe and our satellite nurture base is in the outskirts of Aylesbury. Both school sites offer safe and caring spaces for students to express feeling, emotions and anxieties that can be barriers to learning. We also offer specialist vocational learning spaces, designated teaching rooms and outdoor learning opportunities. 

In order to meet the diverse needs of the students at Unity College we ensure an adequate staff to pupil ratio, with typically a class comprising of no more than 4 pupils. Overview of the role of Teaching Assistant:

- Mentoring, supporting and inspiring learners by supporting them with curriculum-based learning in the classroom, on home tuition and outreach and through outdoor activities

- Assist with the preparation of learning material and contributing to the delivery of learning objectives with a strong focus on behavioural management

- Daily reports on learners’ progress and barriers to learning

- Interaction with parents/care givers on a regular basis

We would love to hear from people who:

- Passionate champions of students with SEND

- At least two years’ experience minimum of working in a SEND environment

- Have strong English and Maths skills

- Would like the opportunity to support students outside of a mainstream environment

- Would like the opportunity to progress within the school and obtain career focused professional qualifications

- Actively contribute to school safeguarding and welfare procedures

At Unity College

Unity College offers a nurturing environment for our students between KS3 to KS5 who are all in care of the local authority. The college building offers a pleasant and spacious learning environment including specialist vocational learning spaces combined with designated teaching rooms.

The college follows a therapeutic model offering a safe, secure and friendly environment for pupils. The college, as part of the Keys Group, provides placements for pupils who reside in nearby Keys Group homes. In order to meet the diverse needs of the young people at Unity College we ensure that the staff to pupil ratio is high, with typically a class comprising of no more than 4 pupils. Each class is staffed by at least one teacher and an educational support worker (ESW).
