Role Overview:

This full-time position entails working closely with students in either Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2, depending on the school’s needs, to provide targeted support for those experiencing social, emotional, and mental health challenges. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children across the autism spectrum and possess a compassionate and empathetic approach.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate effectively with classroom educators to deliver personalized support for students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Implement individualized strategies and interventions to address the unique challenges faced by each student, promoting their well-being and fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Cultivate a safe, supportive, and inclusive atmosphere within the classroom, prioritizing the social and emotional development of every student.
  • Actively engage students in enriching activities designed to enhance their social skills, emotional resilience, and self-confidence.
  • Build strong partnerships with parents, guardians, and colleagues to ensure a holistic approach to supporting students’ social, emotional, and mental health needs.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience working with children in an educational setting, with a focus on supporting social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Strong understanding of special educational needs, with the ability to implement effective strategies and interventions tailored to individual students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with teaching staff, parents, and stakeholders.
  • Compassion, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the well-being and development of every student.

Location and Hours:

Located in Edmonton, this role offers a fulfilling opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students experiencing social, emotional, and mental health challenges. The position is full-time, with working hours from 8:15 am to 3:30 pm, providing ample opportunities to support students’ holistic development.
