Role Overview:

As a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant specializing in Autism, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting Key Stage 2 students with special educational needs, particularly those on the autism spectrum. This role involves working one-on-one with students, providing tailored support and fostering an inclusive learning environment. There may also be opportunities to work within an Additional Resource Provision (ARP) unit, catering to the diverse needs of students across the spectrum.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with classroom educators to deliver targeted support and implement tailored learning plans for Key Stage 2 students with autism.
  • Employ dynamic teaching methodologies to address the unique needs of each student, promoting engagement and academic progress.
  • Cultivate an inclusive and encouraging learning atmosphere, prioritizing the social and emotional well-being of every student.
  • Actively participate in stimulating classroom activities, ensuring the participation and enthusiasm of each student in their educational journey.
  • Foster strong partnerships with parents, guardians, and fellow professionals, ensuring a holistic and cooperative approach to each student’s development.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience working with children in an educational setting, preferably within Key Stage 2, with a specialization in autism.
  • Deep understanding of special educational needs, particularly autism spectrum disorders, and adaptability in implementing effective teaching approaches.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering seamless collaboration with teaching staff, parents, and stakeholders.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the individual needs of each student on the autism spectrum.

Location and Hours:

Located in Edmonton, our school offers modern facilities and a supportive learning environment where every student can thrive. This full-time position operates from 8:15 am to 3:30 pm, providing ample opportunities to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students with autism.
