1.1 Teaching Assistant | Worcester | £85.11 per day | Full Time

SMART Education are looking for a committed and experienced teaching assistant with a real passion to support a young pupil with a diagnosis of ASD! We currently have a vacancy for to support a child with ASD and Speech and Language delay in the EYFS class who requires 1.1 support throughout the day. The successful teaching assistant will need to be familiar in working with SEN needs, managing challenging behaviour, and supporting with speech and language development delay.

The young person also has a diagnosis of Epilepsy, this is managed with medication at home, and very rarely experiences any seizures during school hours. The child’s personal Epilepsy nurse will provide some up-to-date training and is always available to seek advise and support.

You will be working 1:1 with this young person therefore it is vital that you are confident in your ability to deliver 1:1 lesson to meet the young person’s needs, using planning and resources provided by the class teacher to deliver intervention sessions based on their IEP and EHCP targets.

You will be required to:

  • Create a calm and positive learning environment.
  • Build a strong rapport with both the young person and their families.
  • Contribute to the lesson plans and activities for the intervention sessions to ensure that the curriculum is covered sufficiently.
  • Support a young person with complex needs; differentiating lesson/activities.

Person Specification:

  • A Level 3 qualification or extensive experience supporting SEN within mainstream of alternative provision.
  • Experience, Knowledge and Understanding of working with children/young people with additional learning needs (SEN/ASD/Speech and Language Delay)
  • Experience, Knowledge and Understanding of working with disengaged young people who require 1.1 support to access learning opportunities.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to acquire one.
  • Experience, Knowledge and Understanding of Safeguarding practices.

Job Title: 1.1 Teaching Assistant

Location: Warndon, Worcester

Hours: 8:30am to 3:30pm / Monday to Friday with a 30-minute lunch break

Start Date: 1st April 2024

Duration: April 2024 to the end of the academic year initially, with the potential for this to continue into September 2024.
