About the role

An experienced Horticulture Tutor who is creative and engaging to ensure individuals achieve their qualifications for a small group of learners and work efficiently across the team. You will be supported by your Centre Manager and the Quality Team who is responsible for leading the team to drive up quality, reaching and exceeding KPI’s and promoting our ethos for continuous improvement.

You will contribute as an effective collaborator with a new team and be responsible for planning and teaching the curriculum, as well as a differentiation of courses, and will be required to ensure work is marked, recorded, and assessment is ongoing, ensuring all learners are ready for examinations and/or completions and achievement. This role requires you to be creative with ensuring learners are being prepared for the world of work by improving their skills and qualities while achieving qualifications. Make learning fun, engaging and interesting to ensure consistency with attendance and progress while enabling individuals to achieve.

What are we looking for?

Qualifications:                     

  • Qualified to DTLLS/Cert Ed / PGCE (or equivalent) – Desired
  • Qualified to PTLLS / CTLLS (Or Equivalent)
  • GCSE (Or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C or above
  • Vocational qualification in Horticulture
  • Qualified to TAQA / A1 (or equivalent) - Desired

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Create effective schemes of work that support the learning process of individuals
  • Prepare and develop innovative lesson plans, designing and delivering group activities
  • Deliver training to individuals/groups following the curriculum, setting objectives and targets for achievement
  • Provide one-to-one support to learners where necessary
  • Hold a manageable caseload of learners
  • Liaise with relevant team members to ensure learners achieve their targets and progress toward appropriate outcomes
  • Read and analyse EHCP’s ensuring you identify the learning needs of the individual while ensuring the correct resources are in place for individuals
  • Manage behaviour effectively within sessions ensuring sessions can continue
  • Provide appropriate encouragement, guidance and support to learners to help them progress
  • Prepare and submit up-to-date assessments of learners, across all relevant activities
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate paperwork, reviews, and records of progress tracking and report all cases of learner behavioural issues, sickness and absence
  • Prepare for and attend monthly course reviews with your line manager
  • Provide learners with all relevant policies and regulations to clarify what is expected of them and to ensure their safety
  • Establish, develop and maintain effective working relationships with other external organisations involved with the service and learners
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement and self-assessments and the implementation of subsequent action plans
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and within agreed timescales
  • Ongoing management and administration tasks, including but not limited to session planning, logging results and providing timely feedback to learners
  • Work alongside the Quality Assurance team to ensure that delivery meets the high expectations of the company and prepare for and attend standardisation meetings
  • Take proactive approaches to ensure Safeguarding and Prevent is embedded into the delivery and ensure issues are raised accordingly, in line with Safeguarding Policy using the appropriate recording and reporting tools
  • Any complaints are raised accordingly in line with the company Complaints Policy
  • Act as an ambassador for the company, providing key information to all parties involved in the learner journey
  • Create conducive learning environments to optimise learners’ journeys and support positive outcomes.
  • Actively ensure your own CPD is kept up to date as per the requirements for your subject area
  • Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding (including Prevent) the welfare of all learners for whom you have responsibility or with whom you come into contact and adhere to company Safeguarding and Prevent policies
  • In addition, the post holder may be asked to carry out other reasonable duties, appropriate to their experience, qualifications and level.
