Role Overview:

As a Teaching Assistant experienced in leading intervention classes, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the academic progress and attainment of students requiring additional support. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Targeted Intervention: Taking the lead in small group intervention sessions to assist students who need extra support in specific subject areas or skill development. The candidate's ability to deliver engaging and effective intervention activities will empower students to make strides toward achieving their learning objectives.
  2. Individualized Support: Providing personalized assistance to students based on their unique learning needs and abilities. Working closely with teachers, they will identify areas for improvement and devise tailored intervention strategies to address learning gaps and challenges effectively.
  3. Progress Monitoring: Keeping a close eye on the progress and performance of students participating in intervention classes, utilizing various assessment tools and methodologies. Their meticulous attention to detail and skill in tracking student progress will guide instructional decisions and support ongoing learning efforts.
  4. Collaborative Approach: Collaborating seamlessly with classroom teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to ensure a cohesive and coordinated approach to student support and intervention. Their ability to work harmoniously as part of a multidisciplinary team will significantly contribute to the overall success of their students.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates who possess:

  • Teaching Assistant Experience: Prior experience working as a Teaching Assistant, with a demonstrated ability to lead intervention sessions and support student learning. Experience working with students across different age groups and ability levels are highly desirable.

  • Intervention Expertise: Experience planning and delivering targeted intervention activities to support students' academic progress and attainment. Knowledge of effective intervention strategies and techniques, including phonics, numeracy, and literacy interventions, is essential.

  • Educational Qualifications: A relevant qualification in education or a related field, such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent. Additional training or certification in intervention strategies and techniques would be advantageous.

  • Effective Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents. Your ability to communicate effectively and provide constructive feedback will support student progress and success.
