Role:  Learning Mentor

Purple Mango Education have partnered with an exceptional school in Plymouth that are looking for learning mentors to support the growth of the setting. The school is a specialist education provision that works with young people that have not done so well within mainstream education.

They take a different approach to education, small classes, 1:1 support and the majority of learning outside of the classroom. They have a very successful record of many of their students going onto further training or work.

They are looking for learning mentors to support their growth on the back of their ongoing success.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students, nurturing their academic, emotional, and social development.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers and other support staff to implement individualised learning plans and strategies.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, respected, and empowered.
  • Utilise a variety of creative and engaging techniques to facilitate learning and promote student progress.
  • Offer guidance and encouragement to students facing challenges, empowering them to overcome obstacles and reach their full potential.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND, either in a school setting or similar environment.
  • A genuine passion for supporting the unique needs of students with diverse learning requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in the face of challenges, with a proactive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education, special education, psychology, or related fields are highly desirable.
