Industrial Training Manager

Our client is looking to recruit two Industrial Hiring Managers who will manage the JLR contract with a caseload of around 26 apprentices.

Main purpose of the job 

  • To monitor and assess learners, ensuring they have access and opportunity to achieve the requirements of the standards set out in their individual learning plan.
  • Coordinate and manage the process of learning, assessment and verification through any required standards and qualifications.
  • Determine and develop training plans and where necessary negotiate opportunities for delivery through site managers.
  • Liaise with other appropriate Staff and update and maintain learner records in accordance with requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the achievement of learners to meet the ‘Individual’s Learning Plan’ targets.
  •  Carry out Health and Safety audits to maintain JLR’S and our Clients uk’s Health and Safety and Safeguarding policies and criteria to ensure the Health and Safety of learners and staff is paramount.
  •  Complete ILA reviews on JLR site’s and within centre on an agreed frequency that allows the students to make timely progress and to identify any at risk learners, providing support where appropriate.
  • Maintain learner records such as Section Tracking, MIS Database, Section Reports etc. as required.
  • Communicate any performance related concerns of learners to Lead ITM verbally and documented on monthly co-ordinator back.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with Plant Managers.
  •  Fully engage in the Behavioural review process, facilitating the process between the learner and their appropriate Line Manager.
  •  Utilise the Behavioural review process to identify areas of personal development for each individual learner.
  •  Agree and implement action plans to promote each learner’s personal development to ensure that their behaviours are in line with employer expectations.
  • Assess learners progress by various means of assessment and provide progress feedback and progress reports to learners and managers, to include identifying where appropriate any additional learning or experience they might require to meet all aspect’s of the apprenticeship standard.
  •  Provide learners, colleagues, parents and employers with timely, accurate and constructive feedback on learners’ achievement, progress and areas for development that aids the learner’s progress.
  • Review and record achievement of components required to meet the apprenticeships standard.
  •  Develop each individual learner to ensure that they are fully prepared for their job role with regard to technical competence, professionalism and personal development.
  • Develop each individual learner to ensure that they are fully prepared for their Endpoint Assessment and that they are fully equipped to meet the demands of the job role required from the employer/standard.
  •  Prepare apprentices for any external assessment requirements and formats, providing mentoring where appropriate.
  • Maintain ‘Continuous Personal Development’, keeping up to date with professional, and Awarding Organizations standards and codes of practice.
  •  Assist with the recruitment, interviewing and assessing of potential applicants in accordance with Apprentice’s and Skills recruitment policy
  • Represent the Client and JLR Ltd at any activity in a manner which reflects the corporate image.
  •  Any other duties as may be reasonably requested.

Technical knowledge and experience

  • Worked within engineering industry.
  • Skills specific Engineering NVQ/DC Level 3, higher or equivalent.
  • Assessors award and IQA desirable.
  • Time Served apprentice desirable.

Business and industry knowledge

Recent industrial experience combined with knowledge of current industry and best practice standards.

Leadership and people development skills

Empathy with young people, ability to plan, deliver training and assess outcomes.

Problem solving skills

Logical approach to problem solving and provide structured approach to learner interventions.

Interpersonal effectiveness and communication skills

Good presentational and communication skills, literate and numerate.  Ability to motivate and command learner respect.

Delivery of results /impact on business results

Maintain Ofsted Level 2 delivery of training and drive towards creating an outstanding provision.

Timely completion of apprenticeships and success rates.

Job Details:

Various JLR plants and the Training Site (Around the Birmingham Area). The rest of the time they will be home based.

Full time: 8-4.30 Mon-Thurs and 1.30 finish on Fridays but you will need to be flexible if the apprentices are on shift

There will have a nominated site which you wont get mileage to and from, but will get mileage to the other sites which is 46p
