Responsibilities:

As a pastoral assistant you will work closely with our pastoral team to provide essential support to students, promoting their personal development. Your responsibilities will include:

Student Support: Provide 1:1 and group support to students, offering guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear to help them overcome obstacles.

Behaviour Management: Assist in implementing and monitoring behaviour management strategies and interventions to support in developing positive attitudes, behaviour and relationships.

Crisis Intervention: Respond promptly and effectively to students emotional and behavioural crises, providing reassurance, de-escalation, and appropriate referrals to relevant support services.

Student Advocacy: Advocate for students needs and rights, working collaboratively with teachers, parents and external agencies to ensure students receive the support and resources they need to thrive academically and personally.

Well-being Initiatives: Collaborate with the pastoral team to develop and implement well-being initiatives, workshops, and programs to promote mental health, resilience and positive relationships within the school community.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role you will need:

• An Enhanced DBS Check (or be willing to complete one)
• Relevant personal experience or experience within an educational setting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problemsolving skills, with a compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting students.

Additional Details:

• Hours: This is a full time position
• Salary: Competitive, based on the M1 - M6 teaching scale, measured on qualifications and experience.
• Location: Birmingham, B33
