`BSL Student Support Assistant

Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of students? Do you possess strong communication skills in British Sign Language (BSL) at Level 2 or above? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join the team as a Student Support Assistant in an SEN school.

· Full time- 40 hours a week

· Term time only

· Experience of complex physical and medical needs is desirable along with GCSE (or equivalent) A*-C in English & Maths

Key Responsibilities:

1. BSL Support: Provide dedicated support to students with hearing impairments, utilizing British Sign Language at Level 2 or above to facilitate effective communication.

2. Classroom Assistance: Assist students in mainstream classrooms by interpreting lectures, discussions, and other academic content into BSL to ensure full comprehension.

3. One-on-One Support: Work closely with individual students to provide tailored assistance, helping them navigate the academic environment and addressing specific needs.

4. Collaboration: Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and parents to create an inclusive learning environment, ensuring that students with hearing impairments have equal access to educational opportunities.

5. Advocacy: Advocate for the needs and rights of students with hearing impairments, promoting accessibility and inclusivity within the educational setting.

6. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of student progress and communication plans, ensuring that information is up-to-date and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
