If so, Smart Education are seeking a dedicated and skilled Class Teacher to work within a school in Birmingham, working in the reception class from April 2024.

Job Description:

The school is seeking a passionate and dedicated teacher to work within their Early Years Reception class. The ideal candidate will be able to follow the EYFS framework to plan engaging and inclusive lessons to create learning experiences for young learners. Confidently assessing student progress, providing feedback, and recording observations is a very important part of the role to enable progress for pupils throughout the academic year. The school hope for the teacher to create a stimulating learning environment that supports the development of each child and fosters a positive relationship with students, parents, and colleagues to promote a supportive learning community.

The Class Teacher will:

  • implement agreed school policies and guidelines;
  • support initiatives decided by the Headteacher and staff;
  • plan appropriately to meet the needs of all pupils, through differentiation of tasks;
  • be able to set clear targets, based on prior attainment, for pupils’ learning;
  • provide a stimulating classroom environment, where resources can be accessed appropriately by all pupils;
  • keep appropriate and efficient records, integrating formative and summative assessment into weekly and termly planning;
  • report to parents on the development, progress and attainment of pupils;
  • maintain good order and discipline amongst pupils, in accordance with the school's behaviour policy;
  • take part in and contribute to meetings that relate to teaching/curriculum; cooperate with and, where appropriate, advise the head teacher and other colleagues in the review, development and management of a subject in the school;
  • communicate and co-operate with specialists from outside agencies;
  • plan for, organise and direct the work of support staff within the classroom;
  • participate in the performance management system for the appraisal of their own performance, or that of other teachers;

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/ECT.)
  • Experience teaching in Early Years/ Reception.
  • Extensive understanding of the EYFS curriculum and age-appropriate teaching strategies, to plan and deliver creative and differentiated lessons.
  • Sound knowledge and experience of teaching Phonics.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage and inspire young learners.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Effective assessment and record-keeping skills to track student progress.
