Job Title: Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

Tara are working with a reputable educational institution in Shrewsbury dedicated to providing exceptional support and education for students a range of needs including complex needs and autism. With a commitment to fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, we are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join the team.

Position Overview:

As a SEN TA, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and developmental needs of our students aged 3-19 with a range of needs, including autism and ADHD. You will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to implement tailored support plans and create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students with complex needs, ensuring their physical, emotional, and educational well-being.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies tailored to each student's needs.
  • Support students in accessing the curriculum, including adapting materials and resources as necessary.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their independence, self-esteem, and social skills development.
  • Collaborate effectively with teaching staff, therapists, and external professionals to ensure holistic support for students.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with complex needs, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Understanding of autism spectrum disorders and strategies for supporting individuals with diverse needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in working with students facing challenges.
  • Relevant qualifications or willingness to undergo training in areas such as autism awareness, behaviour management, and safeguarding.
